I was know as the youngest Bayliner Buccaneer owner after I purchased a 1978 bucc (s/v second wind) at only 14. I owned her for 8 months, taking care of her after a life of neglect. But this would all change! as i was walking down the dock to the boat yard office i started talking to a man who had been on his boat... the boat looked well sailed to say the least... she was a
cruiser for sure! Her old weather cloths stayed tight in the wind ans her life line netting stood out as a last resort. i took a moment to step aboard and talk with the owner, the first thing i noticed was her tiller. a large heavy wood tiller that looks as if a gale is little more than a light wind! The cockpit is also deep, well draining with 4 scuppers, covered with a bimini, with a anchor rode hanging off the stern! Her decks are solid fiberglass no core to rot! With a slope of nonskid down the sides, and large s/s life lines lead the way to the bow where 3 anchors sit ready to go and a windless (hand cranked!) sits proud above the deck, on the stem is a brand new roller reefing system and 150% "geny" are ready to go out for a nice solo sail and... work! Down below is a "new" floor plan with bulkheads that are painted white, with teak trim along with 2 7-8 foot long bunks on each side and a v berth! (another plus because im 6'3). Her head room is a good 6'6 if ot more! and her head works with a new holding tank and all! The sole (floor) is only plywood by i plan on fiberglassing it and painting it, after i remove it to gasp... do the "big" big BIG job drop the keel to rebed it :(! o well just add it to the list right? Well she now sits on the hard waiting for me to sign the title and be the third owner in 30 years! I will be painting the head, cleaning, working on the keel, and other bits and pieces like brightwork... I will update the site once i have more info
